Exams & Renewal

From application to credential

Earning a BICSI credential takes four steps. Keeping it takes one habit: continuing education.

The four steps

How it works

  1. 01Check your eligibilityEach credential has published routes based on experience, training and other BICSI credentials. Your credential page lists them; the official handbook on bicsi.org has the detail.
  2. 02Apply to BICSISubmit your application with documented experience. BICSI reviews it before approving you to test, so describe your projects, not just your job title.
  3. 03Sit the examOnce approved, book your exam at a Pearson VUE test centre. Installation credentials also include a hands-on assessment, taken on the last day of the training course.
  4. 04Receive your credentialOnce you pass, sign in to your BICSI account and open My Account, then Credentials Home, then My Credentials, where you can download your certificate.

Official applications are made on bicsi.org.

Renewal

Keeping your credential current

Most BICSI credentials renew on a recurring cycle. You renew by earning continuing education credits (CECs) and paying the renewal fee. BICSI courses, conferences and approved events all earn credits, including [which BICSI Saudi Arabia events qualify]. BICSI webinars are worth one credit each and are free to members and non-members. A BICSI ethics course is required once per recertification cycle and is free. Installer 1 is a certificate and does not renew.
